This is the privacy policy for orthodox-jews.com ("the Site"). Chava runs the Site. This page describes what information the Site collects, how it uses it, and the choices you have.
Short version: The Site collects the minimum needed to operate. Emails are used for the newsletter and to respond to messages. Analytics are aggregated and anonymous. Donations and purchases are handled by Stripe. No data is sold.
What we collect
- Email address — if you subscribe to the newsletter or contact Chava.
- Name and message content — if you fill out the contact form.
- Aggregated analytics — if/when Google Analytics is enabled, anonymous data about page visits, device type, and referral source. This data does not identify individual visitors.
- Payment information — if you donate or purchase a product, payment data is handled directly by Stripe. The Site does not receive or store your credit card information.
- Cookies— standard functional cookies to remember your preferences and keep you logged in if applicable. No advertising or tracking cookies from third parties beyond what's needed for analytics.
How we use your information
- Email: to send the weekly newsletter you subscribed to, and to respond when you contact Chava.
- Contact form submissions: read by Chava personally. Responses come from her directly.
- Analytics: to understand which articles readers find useful, which pages need improvement, and where traffic comes from. Never to track individuals.
- Payment data: to process donations and product purchases via Stripe. Stripe is PCI-compliant and handles all card data. Chava receives only the name, email, amount, and (if provided) the dedication text.
Who we share with
- Nobody, for data sales. Your information is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Service providers: Beehiiv (newsletter hosting), Resend (email delivery), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), Google Analytics (if enabled). Each provider has its own privacy policy. They process data only as needed to provide their service.
- Legal obligations: if required by law (subpoena, court order), the Site will comply. This is extremely unlikely for a small content site.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime — every email has an unsubscribe link. Your email is removed from the list immediately.
- Delete your data — email Chava (via the Contact page) and she will delete your subscription, contact history, and any other personal information on file within a reasonable time frame.
- Block cookies via your browser settings. Parts of the Site (like remembering your newsletter subscription state) may not work as smoothly, but nothing will actively break.
- Opt out of analyticsvia your browser's Do Not Track setting or a privacy-focused browser extension.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has submitted information to the Site, email Chava and the information will be deleted.
Security
The Site uses industry-standard security practices (HTTPS, secure hosting via Vercel, payment processing by Stripe). No online service is 100% secure, but Chava takes reasonable precautions to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised "last updated" date. For significant changes, subscribed readers will also be notified by email.
