Need an authentic Orthodox Jewish voice? Let's work together.
I'm Chava — the writer behind orthodox-jews.com. When productions, companies, journalists, or organizations need accurate, accessible expertise on Orthodox Jewish life, I help.
Film & Television Consulting
Script review, on-set cultural advising, dialect and dress accuracy, character authenticity. Productions featuring Orthodox or Hasidic characters benefit from a knowledgeable insider voice. On-set day rates are Sunday–Thursday and Friday morning only — I do not work Friday after sundown, Saturday until nightfall, or on Jewish holidays.
Corporate Cultural Competency
Help your team work effectively with Orthodox Jewish colleagues, clients, or patients. Covers Shabbat accommodation, kosher protocols, modesty norms, holiday scheduling.
Speaking & Keynotes
Talks for universities, corporations, conferences, and cross-community panels. Topics: the Orthodox world non-Jews don't know, accurate representation of Orthodox women, how to write/film/work authentically. I lecture and answer questions; I do not participate in joint religious worship.
Journalism & Media
On-deadline fact-checking, background briefing, and expert quotes for journalists writing about Orthodox Jewish life. Quick turnaround for working press.
Book Projects
Cultural-accuracy review for books featuring Orthodox characters, foreword writing, ghostwriting assistance, and collaboration on Jewish-interest non-fiction.
How engagements work
Why work with me
I'm an Orthodox Jewish woman from Brooklyn who has been writing publicly about Orthodox Jewish life for years. I've published more than 165 articles on orthodox-jews.com explaining the community to a non-Jewish audience — everything from kosher law to Hasidic dress to interfaith dating to the everyday rhythm of an Orthodox week.
My voice is specifically calibrated for outsiders. I don't write for the frum community; I write for the world that wants to understand it. That calibration is what productions, companies, and journalists are usually looking for — someone who can translate authentically without either oversimplifying or losing the audience.
I'm also direct about what I don't know. There's significant variation within Orthodox Judaism (Modern Orthodox, Yeshivish, Hasidic, Sephardic — each with internal variation), and I don't pretend to represent all of it. For specific questions outside my community's experience, I'll tell you and refer you to someone better positioned.
